If you are going to walk down Broadway while wearing dress shoes, be prepared for the shoe shine pitch. It would be your opportunity to sit in a broken office chair (salvaged from the trash) while a 45 year old shoe shiner completes a half-hearted effort to convince you that your shoes have been shined. Someone who works on 'the street' has the shoe shiner come to his/her office. I've never needed a shine bad enough to have one of these guy do it.
