A great loss

Hollywood, CA--Enik, a sleestak, has passed away. Born in 80,000 B.C., he passed away Monday morning. Sid Krofft built an entire show around Enik's image. "I was in Thousand Oaks, at a carwash and this guy was inside the wash, under the brushes, trying to keep cool..and smoking a cigarette too! I knew he had the makings of a star." The show Land of the Lost was a huge hit for three years, ending in 1977. "When the show was cancelled Enik was crushed and that's when he really began his drinking". recalls Krofft. "They even put him in the Love Boat for a few episodes as Captian Stubing's brother, but audiences found the plot unbelievable. And Enik's appearence was making Julie McCoy, cruise director, uncomfortable. "So they wrote in the story line that Captian Stubing would steer the ship, against the cruise line's demands, towards New Foundland, Canada, so that his brother could live long enough to lay his eggs." says Krofft "he hated it. He felt humiliated".
