New Yorkers are Nuts...

Howard Beach, NY-- For those who don't live in the NYC area, Nicholas Minucci aka 'Fat Nick', has been a big news item. On June 29th in Howard Beach, three black men were chased down by Mr. Minucci (and friend, Anthony Ench), armed with a metal baseball bat. One of the black men, Glenn Moore,20, was beaten, and remained in critical but stable condition, with a fractured skull, at a Jamaica (queens) Hospital. On that fateful night the three black men, through their own statements were "looking for a lexus to steal". Mr. Minucci ,who claimed that he was threatened by Mr. Moore's group, displayed an aluminum bat, aka "magic spook stick", and struck Mr. Moore upon his head and body. The NY area press has identified Howard Beach as a hotbed of racial tension. However, about two weeks after the Howard Beach 'incident', Richard Wood, who was among the three black men with Mr. Moore that 'made threats' towards Mr. Minucci, was arraigned on charges of robbery in the first degree, weapons possession and grand larceny for stealing Andy Orellana's(a local high school student) $375 gold chain, bus ticket and wallet. In a state of panic, Mr. Wood called hate crime officers working on 'the Howard Beach' case in an attempt to evade charges in this current arrest. Mr. Wood is also on parole for weapons possession. His unnamed accomplice in this crime is still 'at large'. We at the WSPO don't have any 'love' towards Mr. Minucci, but Mr. Wood's own words to police point to unavoidable truths in 'Fat Nick's' testimony. Ignoring three Black men in Howard Beach at 3am, is like ignoring a fat junebug swimming in my martini-- can't happen. On this night, June 29th, Mr. Minucci was to have said , "This is what you get if you want to rob white boys, nigger!" ('Nigger' is a common form of salutations, greetings and courtesy in the Brooklyn-Queens area of New York) Mr. Minucci remains in jail awaiting trial and was recently denied bail on a probation violation. Mrs. Moore, mother of Glenn Moore, is very irate over her son's present state. Although Mr. Moore has a past arrest for car theft, his mother insists he carried a 'hammer and other tools' with him the night he was beaten because he planned to hang his Air Jordans on his wall as decoration. One must ask, was Mr. Moore's wall in Howard Beach?
